belle's 18 month checkup

can you believe it?....18 month checkup?! She is getting BIG on us!! :)
Yesterday (Jan. 6th) our Belle had her 18 month checkup. It has been pretty routine for her since she's been born to see the doctor every 3 months (I think it is for every infant and child). She has done well with the shots and the visits. She is NOW quick to understand that when we do take her to 'the office' (she now knows this place just as if a dog knows the vet's office) it's usually a shot visit. She is, at the point that when the doctor checks her out (ears, nose, teeth, heartbeat, etc.,) she has NO interest in anyone touching her other than her momma and dada. Poor kid...pretty soon she'll be asking them for some goodies in return for a shot...lol...i.e.) stickers and safety pops :)...It's hard for me to see my baby cry, even when I know she needs her shots. I think Ray can agree too but he's also the one that usually keeps her arms down on the table while they give her shots in her leg (as I look away or make myself look busy). It's never bothered me, but since it's my child I have an 'uneasy' feeling inside and feel yucky.

It doesn't get easier for us too...and sometimes we worry about these 'CDC-Government' shots...I have done a lot of research and have quite a bit of knowledge from multiple sources and I am not sure what to make at some of these articles for shots??...How can you ever be sure you are doing what is right for your child? You're told that you are a responsible, wonderful parent by giving these to you child and in most cases schools want your child to get their shots as well (and I understand the reasons why that is important). Still, I/we remain uneasy about them too. I've gotten shots just like any child but never really thought about them...A lot of things change when you have a child of your own!!...okay, so now that I went off on a tan git, I will stop...Belle also got her autism screen. We weren't too worried about it at all as she is doing all she should and has. She was in the clear...we also got the go ahead for peanut butter and chocolate. We have allergies in this family, so I held off on those things, or only in moderation (as stated in some research books). We were worried as Ray has allergies to citrus and other things and I know at a point in time that honey mustard made me break out...Now I can make some scrumcious pb&j sandwiches for lil' miss :)
Belle is tapering off a bit on her growing charts. We were explained that she is where she needs to be for this point in time. Kids all grow differently and have their own agenda, so, later in time she could hit another growth spurt and gain weight as well as height. Her stats are: 31 inches in height (same as 3 months ago), 23 pounds (also a few ounces more than 3 months ago), her temp was normal and her HC- head circumference was 18.5 (just a hair over what it was 3 months ago....So, as you can see she is growing and doing things at her own pace :)

After her appointment, we ran some errands. After that it was getting pretty late and we really hadn't eaten through the day (being on the road since 1pm) so, the dinner stop was at our local "Joe's Pizza"...it's this incredibly, delicious family owned Italian pizza eatery. Belle just loves pizza so it was a treat for her to eat out :) Prices are great, food is fantastic, the service and locals are wonderful. Belle makes friends easy as she trys to great everyone with a, "Hiiiiiii...!" (in and out the door) :) For those of you in the area, the address: 2735 Old Winter Garden Road, Ocoee, FL 34761 (at the corner of McGuire and Old Winter Garden Rd.).

We had a great day together, it may have been running errands but it was a day of accomplishing many tasks too :) Sorry so long winded, I love to be detailed.

Checking out the garlic knots. She loved them and devoured them too :)
